Bernice N. Eickemeyer, age 97, of Marysville, died Sunday, March 19, 2017, at her daughter’s home in Cincinnati, Ohio with her daughters by her side.

A homemaker, she was formerly employed with O.M. Scotts.  She was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Quilters of the Church.  At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of the congregation.

She was born February 2, 1920 in Marysville to the late G. William and Elizabeth Kleiber Nicol.  She was baptized on February 29, 1920 at Trinity Lutheran Church, and confirmed there on March 25, 1934. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1938.  She was married to Robert C. Eickemeyer on November 19, 1948 at Trinity Lutheran Church by Rev. E.J. Goedeking.  She was preceded in death by Bob, her husband of 64 years, by her brother and sister-in-law, Robert C. and Dorothy Nicol, and by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ada and Harold Lewis.

Bernie will be remembered as a kind and caring friend, a good listener, and a devoted mom and grandma.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting, and gardening, but the well-being of her family was most important to her.

She is survived by her daughters, Jane (Ray) Wind, Cincinnati, and Mary (Duane) Hammer, Marysville; her sons William (Karen) Eickemeyer, and Thomas (Rachel) Eickemeyer, both of West Bloomfield, Michigan; Grandchildren Melissa Hoppe, Matthew (Michelle) Hammer, Benjamin Hammer, Joel Hammer, Kaitlin Eickemeyer, and Nicholas Eickemeyer, and Great-grandchildren Kierstyn and Coby Hammer, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 25, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.  Rev. Jack Heino will officiate and burial will take place at the church cemetery.  Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Friday, March 24, 2017 at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church Organ Fund or Loving Care Hospice.
