Douglas Lee Farrington, 61, of Richwood, died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Memorial Hospital of Union County.
A hard worker, Doug graduated from North Union High School in the class of 1974 and learned many skills over the years working as a farmhand on several area farms, driving milk trucks and tractor trailers and especially his John Deere tractors, he loved riding those any chance he could. Since he was going to drive all that machinery, he also served as a mechanic to repair much of it. When not working, Doug enjoyed watching drag racing, following NASCAR and collecting the items of his favorite driver, Dale Jarrett.
Born April 8, 1956 in Kenton, he was the son of Dallas and Peg (Seaman) Farrington and they survive in West Mansfield. Also surviving are his sons, Cory of Ridgeway and Brian of Akron, MI; a brother, Ken (Deb) Farrington of West Mansfield; sisters, Vicki (Earl) Webb of West Mansfield and Jodi (Shawn) Welch of Ridgeway an uncle, Bob (Nancy) Farrington of Bellefontaine; and numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
Friends may call from 12:00-2:00 P.M. Friday at the Wilson Funeral Home, Schnurrenberger Chapel, 222 W. Center St. West Mansfield where funeral services will be held immediately following at 2:00 P.M. Reverend Doug Thompson will officiate and burial will follow at the Byhalia Cemetery. As anyone who knew Doug can attest, he was not a “shirt and tie guy,” the family requests casual dress for the services in honor of Doug.
