Elsworth W. “Bill” Corkwell, 78, of West Mansfield, passed away peacefully Friday, March 2, 2018 at Heartland of Bellefontaine with family by his side following a lengthy illness.

Born March 11, 1939 in Columbus, he was the son of the late Stephen E. and Ercel (Williams) Corkwell.

A 1957 graduate of Degraff High School, Bill served his country in the U.S. Army. He then worked as a mechanic for 28 years with Creviston Implement.

A member of the West Mansfield United Methodist Church, he was also a former member of the West Mansfield Conservation Club and the West Mansfield Lion’s Club. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, golfing and camping, but most of all he cherished his time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On June 15, 1963 at the parsonage of the East Liberty Church of Christ, he and Vivian Davis were married by the Reverend George Hunt. Together they enjoyed nearly 55 years of marriage and Vivian survives in West Mansfield. Also surviving are his daughters, Rhonda Stamper of West Mansfield and Diane (Joel) Minter of West Mansfield; grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Buettner, Lynette (Landon) Watkins and Cameron Minter; great grandchildren, Madison and Miley Buettner and Layton Watkins; sisters, Susan Callahan of Arizona, Kathryn Thompson of Indiana, Pat (Dick) Laird of Marysville and Nella Rabon of Texas along with numerous nieces nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Wilson Funeral Home, Schnurrenberger Chapel 222 W. Center St. West Mansfield. Reverend Douglas Thompson will officiate and burial will follow at the North Greenfield Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the funeral home. The family kindly requests casual dress for the calling hours and service and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be given to the Logan County Cancer Society in memory of Bill.
